Hey there, I’m Bethany and I’m so happy to have you here. I’m a wife, an avid reader, an American Sign Language interpreter in training, and am always ready to laugh at anything.

I love music of almost any kind and can regularly be found preparing for my Dancing with the Stars audition in the privacy of my home. I drink way too much coffee and talk way too loudly and, if you’re interested in that kind of thing, I’m a nine on the enneagram so I really hate conflict.

And I’m a Christian, which I know right now can carry a lot of different meanings. For me, being a Christian means simply this: I believe that God is the creator of the universe, that He sent His Son Jesus to die on behalf of humanity’s sins, and that Holy Spirit remains among us today, speaking to each of us if we will listen. I’m not here to criticize, condemn, or convert, I’m simply here to love others, laugh often, and share life experiences.

This blog used to be called Choosing Jesus and I loved that time, but as I’ve learned to integrate my faith into everyday life, I’ve learned that being a Christian doesn’t mean that is all that I am or all that I talk about so there are other things I like to write about as well. So here you’ll start finding funny life experiences, book reviews, pop culture references, and any number of other topics, and within those topics, just like real life, sometimes faith will pop up too.

I’m not here to paint an unrealistic image of myself that only speaks of faith and God, I just want to be real so that we can get to know each other. So I hope you feel welcome here. I hope that you feel included and accepted, known and appreciated. And I hope that you’ll see that not all Christians are crazy or cruel, a lot of us are everyday people, living everyday lives, and just choosing to welcome God into the mix of it all. So take a breath, look around, and please say HI!

“Jesus replied, ‘You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. A second is equally important: Love your neighbor as yourself.” — Matthew 22:37-38

“We are all a little weird and life’s a little weird, and when we find someone whose weirdness is compatible with ours, we join up with them and fall in mutual weirdness and call it love.”

Dr. Seuss
